History

There are three Schools in West Bengal which were once set up by the Church Missionary Society for the spread of English Education in this province. Ours is one of them. It was established first as an English School in 1834. by Rev. J.Weit Brecht of the Church Missionary Society and patronised by the then Maharajadhiraj Mahatab chand Bahadur or Burdwan. Since the very inception the name of the school is called the "Church Missionary Society's High School' i.e. C.M.S. High School. However, through different stage it was, ate last, upgraded to a Higher Secondary School ( Multipurpose) in 1969. It is now one of the oldest abd best known institutions of the district with a glorious record of producing a good number of Scholarship holders who are new well established in society. Though aided by Government, now the instituion is of the people, by the poeple and for the people.
