About Us
Burdwan C. M. S High School is a pride of the town. It was founded on 1834 by the name of Church Missionary Society’s English School erected through the liberal aid of Moharajah Matab Chand Bahadur and other benevolent friends by the Educationist Revd. J. Weitbrecht. The School, which is recognized by the Government of West Bengal and prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std. X) and for the Higher Secondary Certificate examination (Std. XII), is governed by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. It has its own Managing Committee.
Presently it has almost 1400 students together in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary section. The institution has Good Laboratories, well furnished gymnasium hall, one rich library with reading room, and student’s hostel for H.S. coupled with other advantages.

The establishment of CMS High School at Burdwan is a major step which gives the literacy movement a new thrust, a fresh impetus, a new glory and prestige. On the educational map of the state and country. The main aim of the school is to impart quality education and create awareness.
Goal
The mission and vision is to develop the education system for bringing prosperity among the people of our society or country. This is possible by keeping in views, that India is known to be a great reservoir of talent which must be nurtured and propelled in the right direction.
